What's included

Correct-Size Tap

Matched to the repair so the new threads cut clean and true the first time.

Depth-Stopped Drill Bit

Pre-set collar physically stops the bit — you can't drill too deep and blow through the block.

Hardened Thread Sleeves

The actual repair pieces. Steel inserts that leave the hole stronger than the original aluminum.

Insert Installation Tool

Drives and seats the sleeve to the right depth without cross-threading or damage.

Details

Stripped a spark-plug hole, head-bolt thread, or drain plug in an aluminum block? Don't write off a $5,000 casting. This kit restores the threads to stronger-than-stock with a hardened steel insert — the same proven repair used in pro engine shops.

The drill bit ships with a pre-set depth stop so you physically cannot drill too deep into the block. Tap, set the sleeve with the supplied install tool, and you're back to a clean, torque-ready thread.

  • Correct-size tap matched to the repair
  • Depth-stopped drill bit — no guesswork, no over-drilling
  • Hardened thread sleeves / inserts (the actual repair pieces)
  • Insert installation tool

Built for professional mechanics, engine builders, and serious DIY gearheads who need the repair done once, done right.

Before You Buy

Is this kit right for my engine?

The kit repairs stripped or damaged threads in aluminum blocks — spark-plug holes, head-bolt holes, drain plugs and similar. Pick the repair type / thread size that matches your application on the product page. If you're unsure, email us your engine and the hole you're fixing and we'll confirm before you buy.

Dealer- and brand-specific kits carry a big markup and are often sold through restricted channels. We sell the same class of repair — tap, depth-stopped drill, hardened sleeves and install tool — direct, with no dealer in the middle.

Stronger. The hardened steel sleeve has a higher load rating than the surrounding aluminum, which is why insert repairs are standard practice in professional engine shops.

You can't. The drill bit ships with a pre-set depth stop that bottoms out at the correct depth, so the single most expensive mistake — punching too far into the block — is off the table.

Still unsure? Send us your engine details and we'll confirm the fit.
